Be glad in the Lord, you just, and give thanks...
A light will shine on us this day: the Lord is born for us.
(from Psalm 97 for Mass of The Nativity of the Lord at Dawn)

This Advent, we have not yet decorated the RV with anything other than the Advent Wreath given to us by a friend. This season has had more of a ‘Lenten’ feel for us and for many people we know. So be it. It is still possible to rejoice. Through chaos comes a peace so profound it makes us stop and breathe.
Our Family At The Start of Our 3-Year Trek
  • An elderly man in Wisconsin says with voice trembling, “I’ve been going through the motions for 70 years, thank you for coming to our parish.’
  • A fifth grader in Oklahoma stops at the door of his school and says: “I will remember what you said here today for the rest of my life.”
  • A mother in Iowa says she lost her son in the war over seas and “wanted to let you know that I found peace here tonight.”
  • In a small chapel in Germany last October, a young father leads his children in a prayer.
Our Family Today - In Phoenix for Christmas

Each of these moments causes me to stop and breathe.  For a moment I forget to worry about the condition of the world, forget to put my own concerns first. I forget everything but the fact that I need to pray more...I need to love more.

It is no secret this has been a hard year for us and now we ponder the words last week of a doctor in Phoenix who thinks my cancer may have returned.  Through it all, the good and the bad, we have much to be thankful for...God has given us each other – and you!

We wish you and your families a Blessed Christmas and a Joyful New Year!

Help Our Ministry By Making A Gift Today

We are very grateful to all who have offered their prayers and gifts in this time of great need. As many of you know, declining donations and stipends, recent unexpected expenses and the long-term effects of the economic downturn have put us at the financial brink. At the same time, we have seen a growing response to our ministry – hundreds of people staying after Mass, stopping to contemplate Who they have just received in the Eucharist and what that means as they walk out the doors of the church. Know that every prayer and gift is appreciated and you are also in our prayers.
Holy Family Apostolate is a 501(c)3 Not-For- Profit Corporation. Donations provided without the expectation of receiving a gift are tax deductible. Giving statements are provided each January for your tax planning.
